Getting into web development these days looks more like a great deal especially if you are transitioning from a non-tech career. But the truth is that it's easy.
surprised right? I will explain...
Web development as a career has long been improved just like every other career in tech over the years, these improvement has evidently simplified a lot for beginners compared to days when there were limited resources on the internet and there are not many communities powering the tech ecosystem.
It is easier to get started now and within a short period, you are already building amazing things.
The open-source community has done a tremendous job in making programming and technology, in general, easy and free to learn by providing different resources and platforms to help newbies get started in their tech careers.
We are going to be talking about most of these open-source technologies that can get you started in your web development journey without needing to spend too much money getting started.
In my list I have just four completely free platforms, they have all it takes to guide one from the absolute beginner stage to the professional level.
Youtube
Twitter
Freecodecamp.org is completely open-source so you don't need to pay money to get started. the platform is very interactive and easy to use with a world-class standard curriculum to guide you step by step from zero to hero level.
w3schools.com is also another powerful free resource that has played a significant role in the journey of every developer that I know today. Before Freecodecamp there were w3schools and they are still functional and doing well to date. Their straightforward ways of explaining terms made them stand out and are still relevant until this day. You might want to check them out.
Youtube as it's well known is a video-sharing/streaming platform, the idea behind youtube was not centered around teaching people how to become web developers.
But why I recommended it as a free tool that can help you in your journey to web development is because a lot of people have taken it upon themselves to create content around web development on youtube which has grown into a thing now, one can literally find full premium courses being thought-free on youtube.
Now as a newbie, it might be difficult to find the right channel on youtube that can teach you in a certain way that you will understand because everyone one of us has different ways of learning. so it will require a lot of effort and research on youtube to find the right person for you.
Twitter is also another platform that is also built for socialization hence it's a social media. But one can leverage the power of Twitter to network and connect with people who are already doing great in the industry. A lot of these people post useful content that can help, sometimes access to free resources is provided.
Below is the list of youtube channels and Twitter accounts, that can help you get started as a beginner.
